REVIEW: Acer Predator Galea 330 - Budget Earbuds and Stays Budget

We have seen recently that Acer Predator has been selling some of their gaming peripherals and one got our attention, their gaming earbuds, the Predator Galea 330 and we have to try it out if it can go toe to toe with the other gaming wireless earbuds.

In this review we tried out the Predator Galea 330, this is not sponsored article and we bought this unit for us to try and use.

Predator is the gaming lineup of Acer, they are well known on their gaming laptops (Predator Helios, Acer Nitro) and their Pre-build gaming desktop (Predator Orion)

WHAT'S INSIDE

We tried looking for the product from their website but can only see limited information, you need to search the model to see the web link: https://www.acer.com/ae-en/predator/accessories/gaming-headsets/galea-330

We think that the Galea 330 is an entry level wireless earbuds based on the price and quality.

Once you open the box, it includes the Predator Galea 330 Wireless Earbuds, Manual and warranty card, a short USB-C to USB-A cable for charging, couple of foam replacement.

DESIGN

Compare to other gaming earbuds available in the market, the Predator Galea 330 has a different shape on its charging case, though the earbuds itself is pretty much generic to other earbuds out their

It has an RGB lighting on the side of the case and a 4 light indicator below the earbuds to show the percentage of the battery.

On the earbuds itself, it only has the Predator name on the right and Predator logo on the left. Both sides have a tiny LED indicator to bluetooth connection.

PERFORMANCE

Performance wise, the Predator Galea 330 has a decent sound quality, though compared to other earbuds that has same price range, it doesn't have ANC or Noise Cancelling Microphones.

We also did try the microphone on voice recording and calling thru online messengers, it is a decent microphe but we notice that we sound like we are inside a bathroom, there is a hint of echo you can here behind our voice.

When it comes to bluetooth connection, it can connect from the source up to 8 meters, going beyond it and you'll hear some disconnection. You also need to disconnect it from the current source before you can connect to other source.

The sound volume is also more louder on the right earbud compared to the left.

BATTERY LIFE

The Predator Galea 330 has 2 pin contacts on each earbud for charging. This is the same kind of charging contacts you can see on most wireless earbuds with a clamp shell charging case. Typically this is the first issue for common earbuds, the contacts starts to not connect and the earbud will not charge properly.

After 1 month use on the Predator Galea 330, we have experience some issues right away, the left earbuds charge last only for around 30 minutes and you will here an annoying warming message "low battery" which is a bit annoying especially if you are immerse in gaming.

For the right earbud it did last for around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Based on the manual, the Predator should have 4 hours of playback.

CONCLUSION

Upon checking online, the Predator Galea 330 price range from PHP 1,895 up to PHP 2,499, check out the link below where you can get them

When it comes to price to performance, we can say that the Predator Galea 330 lacks the sound quality and battery life compared to the previous earbuds we reviewed, the Edifier X5 Pro which is more affordable.

We will be giving the Predator Galea 330 a Class C Rank as it lacks the features like ANC and Noise Cancelling features. It also doesn't have a software to configure the EQ.
Here at All of the Above we have a way to rate the products we review. These are the scores we give the Predator Galea 330.
  • 8/10 Overall Design
  • 7/10 Performance
  • 5/10 Price to Performance

Overall, we are giving the Predator Galea 330 a 6/10 overall score. It can be improved and we are hoping on the next version of this gaming earbuds we can get to try it again.
